Ireland Shows Off Its Literary Finest

There are still three more days left before the public voting period closes in this year’s An Post Irish Book Awards competition. You have until this coming Monday, November 15 (at 5 p.m. Dublin time), to make your preferences known online here.

There are 20 categories of nominees, including six novels shortlisted for the Irish Independent Crime Fiction Book of the Year:

All Her Fault, by Andrea Mara (Transworld)
April in Spain, by John Banville (Faber and Faber)
The Dark Room, by Sam Blake (Atlantic/Corvus)
The Devil’s Advocate, by Steve Cavanagh (Orion)
56 Days, by Catherine Ryan Howard (Atlantic/Corvus)
The Killing Kind, by Jane Casey (Harper Fiction)

All of the 2021 winners are to be announced during an in-person ceremony at Dublin’s Convention Centre on Tuesday, November 23. “The event,” explains The Irish Times, “will also be live-streamed for those who are unable to attend.”
