I mentioned last fall that Swedish actor Adam Pålsson had been tapped to star in Young Wallander, a six-episode Netflix series based on Henning Mankell’s tales of police inspector Kurt Wallander.
Now The Killing Times provides a video teaser for the show, and observes that it “is looking increasingly likely that this will not be an origin story—more a ‘modern interpretation of the legendary criminal policeman Kurt Wallander.’ Netflix says: ‘This time it is taking place in contemporary Sweden—and a society that is becoming increasingly violent. When Kurt fails to save a teenager from a terrible attack, he must learn to live with the guilt in order to solve the case.”
Young Wallander is expected to debut sometime this coming autumn. It follows a previous and popular UK program, Wallander, which was headlined by Kenneth Branagh and ran for four seasons on BBC-TV, from 2008 to 2016. Wallander was also broadcast as part of PBS’ Masterpiece Mystery! schedule in the States.
