Star-Spangled Homicides

Primarily through my own fault, I shall be working tomorrow, the Fourth of July. But those of you who will be able to relax on this national holiday might want to check out two new online offerings.

First, in honor of America’s Independence Day and the 18th-century revolution that won the United States its freedom from Great Britain, CrimeReads is celebrating 21 crime novels “set during all revolutions, even those that succeeded only in establishing themselves in our collective historical memory. No matter the revolution,” CrimeReads says, “these works share some surprising affinities.”

Second, Janet Rudolph has posted an updated list of more than 60 Fourth of July-related mysteries in her blog, any of which might be appropriate for reading while barbecuing in the backyard.

Enjoy the Fourth, everyone!
