This week brings us two birthdays significant to fans of classic American TV crime dramas. Today, of course, marks 66 years since the delivery, in Los Angeles, of Susan Saint James, who would go on to co-star with Rock Hudson in the NBC Mystery Movie series McMillan & Wife (1971-1977). And tomorrow, August 15, will be the 88th birthday of Mike Connors, the Armenian-descended actor who achieved renown playing hard-fisted L.A. private investigator Joe Mannix, in the 1967-1975 CBS-TV series Mannix.
We offer our best wishes to both performers, as they gather breath to extinguish their multiplying birthday candles.
