Gone, No Forewarning

As has been reported elsewhere, San Francisco crime novelist Joe Gores--creator of the Dan Kearney and Associates (DKA files) series, and the author of Spade & Archer, his prequel to Dashiell Hammett’s The Maltese Falcon--has passed away at age 79.

More details to follow.

Odd that he would die so close to the 50th anniversary of Hammett's passing. Karma.

A fine writer, and one of the sweetest guys you could ever hope to meet.

Also one of the few real P.I.s to write private eye fiction, and a major contributor of such.
