Hand-Selling Delights

The Independent Mystery Booksellers Associations (IMBA) has announced its nominees for the 2009 Dilys Award, named in honor of Dilys Winn, the founder of New York City’s now-deceased Murder Ink bookstore and author of the classic reference work, Murder Ink: The Mystery Reader’s Companion. The Dilys Award honors the book that IMBA members thought was the “most fun to sell” during the previous year. The 2009 contenders are:

Trigger City, by Sean Chercover (Morrow)
The Victoria Vanishes, by Christopher Fowler (Bantam)
Silent in the Sanctuary, by Deanna Raybourn (MIRA)
Child 44, by Tom Rob Smith (Grand Central)
The Dawn Patrol, by Don Winslow (Knopf)

A winner will be announced during this year’s Left Coast Crime convention, to be held in Hawaii from March 7 to 12.
