The Delight’s in the Details

With the floodgates opened on news about a June 3 DVD release of Mannix--The First Season, everything’s spilling out. The Web site TV Shows on DVD now has information about the extras to be offered with this first package of 24 Mannix episodes. With the pilot ep for that Mike Connors series, expect to find a commentary track by co-creator William Link (who, with Richard Levinson, went on to create Columbo). The package will also contain an on-camera reunion between Connors and Joseph Campanella, who originally played Joe Mannix’s boss on the series; a clip from the 1997 Diagnosis: Murder episode in which Connors returned to the Mannix role that made him famous; and video from Connors’ appearance on the memorable old Mike Douglas Show.

In other news, Tony Black (Paying for It) interviews Scottish author Ray Banks--whose third Carl Innes novel, No More Heroes, is just out in Britain--for the Web site BooksfromScotland.com; crime novelists make a respectable showing in the latest Irish Book Awards competition; John Kenyon interviews Christopher Goffard, author of Snitch Jacket, over at Things I’d Rather Be Doing; and it seems John le Carré is leaping from Little, Brown to Scriber in order to produce the U.S. edition of his latest novel, A Most Wanted Man (due out in October on both sides of the Atlantic).
