Monkey Business

Publisher/editor “Dash Courageous” (aka Robert S.P. Lee) promises a diverse lot of pulp fiction in the third issue of Blazing! Adventures Magazine: “A Samurai’s journey to Hades! ... A con man gets taken by a hot dame! ... A giant, a powerful woman warrior, and deadly wolves! ...Professors & boxers & snakes, oh my.”

Getting past those teasers, we find new stories by J.K. Sager (“All that Glitters”), Raymond Embrack (“Last Bravo”), Glenn Gray (“Checkout Time”), Daniel R. Robichaud (“Heed the Hell-bound”), and others; a true tale of adventure, “In Pursuit of the Red Baron,” by Townsend Twainhart (c’mon, man, is that really your name?); and flash fiction starring an investigator known as Chimp--which is not merely a nickname, by the way.

You’ll find the full Blazing! offerings here.

And if you’re in the mood for browsing Webzine contents, cast a glance toward novelist-blogger Allan Guthrie’s newly redesigned Noir Originals. As we’ve noted before (here and here), he’s been adding to the articles, profiles, and reviews available at his site, without formally publishing a new issue of the ’zine. The cleaner look of his new format (no more black background, thank God, and better arrangement of his material) makes the whole thing more inviting. Of course, this redesign might also make it difficult for you to remember what you’ve read already. But a little idle Web exploration, with the opportunity to turn up something you missed reading before, isn’t a bad way to pass a Sunday.
