Evil is unspectacular and always human, as Auden wrote. It’s not some angry spirit, not Satan, not a natural disaster--it’s us. The evil in most of our lives isn’t the huge events, the wars and genocides, the tortures and murders. Most evil shares our bed and our clothing.The paper is currently plugging the Toronto Harbourfront reading series. Penny will be appearing this coming Saturday.
