Future Felonies

For those of us who like to keep ahead of the crime-fiction game, to know what’s coming out from U.S. book publishers in the future, Dave Robeson’s The Bloodstained Bookshelf--part of the ClueLass Web site--is essential reading. His latest rundown features novels scheduled as far out as March 2007, including Michael Dibdin’s Back to Bologna (September), Kate Atkinson’s One Good Turn and Qiu Xiaolong’s A Case of Two Cities (October), Duane Swierczynski’s The Blonde (November), and Thomas H. Cook’s The Cloud of Unknowing (January). The only downside to being apprised of what books are due to become available in coming months, is realizing that you may have to wait a long time to read them.

When Thalia Proctor was in charge of Crime On Store in London, her online newsletter contained the perfect corollary to The Bloodstained Bookshelf -- "Publishers Behaving Badly", to announce delays of books whose pub dates had been delayed.
