From Books to Boob Tube

The U.K. production firm Castlefield has acquired the TV rights to Cara Hunter’s bestselling crime novels featuring Detective Inspector Adam Fawley. Although the company has yet to find a home for the adaptation, it’s planning the series around Hunter’s four books, with each novel following DI Fawley as he investigates a domestic tragedy or crime that demands answers from the victim’s family and friends. In the first book, Close to Home, he looks into the disappearance of an eight-year-old girl from a family party.

As FantasticFiction explains, “Cara Hunter is the pen name of an established British novelist who lives and works in Oxford.”

Meanwhile, January Magazine carries word that Welsh-born Canadian author Cathy Ace’s latest novel, The Wrong Boy, “has been optioned for television by UK indie Free@Last TV (Agatha Raisin).

“C21 Media reports that, among new projects the company is embarking on is, ‘The Wrong Boy, a three-part thriller being adapted from Welsh author Cathy Ace’s novel of the same name. It focusses on a small Welsh hamlet disturbed by the discovery of human remains, and the many twists in the investigation that follows.’”
