It was 130 years ago today that American outlaw Jesse James was shot in the back in St. Joseph, Missouri, by a member of his own gang, Robert Ford. James was only 34 years old. Ford later tried to exploit his obvious act of homicide, posing for photographs and staging re-enactments of James’ death, but with limited success. Ford was himself murdered 10 years later.
