How Many Takes Did that Take to Get Right?

I hadn’t consciously intended to evoke the comic spirit of a 1968 Johnny Carson skit with Sunday’s headline, “The Case of the Caper Capper,” but blogger Bill Peschel brought the association to my attention. That skit, you may recall, found Carson telling straight-faced guest Jack Webb (Dragnet) that his “clean copper clappers” had been copped from his closet. Don’t recall the episode?
