Movie Buffs Name Favored Weapons

It should come as no real surprise that, in a world of fabulous fictional weapons, when called upon, inveterate moviegoers can readily name their favorites.

A survey of 2000 “film fans,” commissioned by 20th Century Fox and reported on by The Press Association, shows that the Star Wars lightsaber as the all-time favorite weapon of moviegoers.

Here are the top 10 in order:

1. The lightsaber from Star Wars
2. Harry’s 44 magnum from Dirty Harry
3. Indie’s Bullwhip from the Indiana Jones films
4. The samurai sword from Kill Bill
5. The chainsaw from Texas Chainsaw Massacre
6. The golden gun from the appropriately titled James Bond film
7. Robin Hood’s bow and arrow (presumably from various films)
8. The machine gun in Scarface
9. The Death Star in Star Wars (Don’t blame me: I didn’t make these up.)
10. The bowler hat used by James Bond in Goldfinger
