Young Littell Steps to the Plate

Publishers Weekly sends exciting news from the Frankfurt Book Fair:
A 900-page book written in French by the son of an American bestselling writer is one of the early buzzes at Frankfurt. Les Bienveillants (or The Furies as it’s to be called in English) by Jonathan Littell (son of Robert) fetched a “substantial” six-figure sum in Germany ...
The PW piece goes on to report that the novel “offers a searing first-person narrative from an SS officer unapologetically reflecting on his life and the atrocities he committed during ... WWII.” It adds that Les Bienveillants has been topping lists and grabbing headlines since it came out in France five weeks ago.
