But when ME-TV began rebroadcasting Ironside in 2013, I was blown away by the acting of Raymond Burr. The series was groundbreaking with a main character using a wheelchair and an African American as one of the main character. No character in TV was depicted using a wheelchair before Ironside. And not many African-Americans were in a starring role. The series was a detective series, but it was more. To see how a man deals with a situation that is life-changing and how the relationship between Ironside and his team grows over time is absorbing. Particularly to see the growth of Mark Sanger with the mentoring of Ironside was great. The Chief may have been tough, but to function with his physical limitations, he had to be. As the series progressed, Ironside showed how one could be independent with physical limitations. I want to thank you for giving Ironside the recognition it deserves. So many blogs seem to ignore this series in favor of Perry Mason. I think it was much more dynamic.Sue Clarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01884072667977354828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16749171.post-19472599911994012102008-09-08T12:53:00.000-07:002008-09-08T12:53:00.000-07:00That was a pretty good intro. Ironside was one of my favorites, along with many that you've listed for that high point of the detective series. Whether he played the villain (early in his career) or the iconic television figure (of Mason or Ironside), Burr was a very underrated actor. He didn't need a lot of dialog to get across to the audience the menace or strength of the character. Sadly, only a few in today's corral of actor's have this quality.le0pard13https://www.blogger.com/profile/09421175808461787862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16749171.post-43877301743209062622008-09-04T12:06:00.000-07:002008-09-04T12:06:00.000-07:00First came the cowboys and then the detectives.
